Darauf aufbauend erfolgt eine Betrachtung Jims nach Kriterien menschlich positiven Verhaltens, wobei der Gegenüberstellung von „minstrel stereotype“ und "human determine" Rechnung getragen wird. Ingesamt fußen die Ausführungen auf der englischen Ausgabe des Romans.
